Uses of polyester

Polyester fibers have high strength, high modulus, and low water absorption, and are widely used as both civil and industrial fabrics. As a textile material, polyester staple fibers can be pure spun, and are particularly suitable for blending with other fibers; It can be blended with natural fibers such as cotton, hemp, and wool, as well as other chemical staple fibers such as viscose, acetate, and polyacrylonitrile. "The cotton, wool, and linen like fabrics made of pure or blended polyester fibers generally have the original excellent characteristics of polyester fibers, such as wrinkle resistance and pleat retention, dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, and washability. However, some of the original shortcomings of polyester fibers, such as static electricity and dyeing difficulties in textile processing, poor sweat absorption and breathability, and vulnerability to melt into voids when exposed to sparks, are common.", It can be alleviated and improved to some extent with the incorporation of hydrophilic fibers. Polyester twisted filament (DT) is mainly used for weaving various silk-like fabrics. It can also be interwoven with natural fibers or chemical staple yarns, as well as with silk or other chemical fiber filaments. This kind of interwoven fabric maintains a series of advantages of polyester.

Polyester textured yarn (mainly low elastic yarn DTY) is the main variety developed in China in recent years. It is different from ordinary filament in that it has high bulkiness, large curl, strong wool sensation, softness, and a high elastic elongation (up to 400%). The fabric woven with it has the characteristics of good warmth retention, excellent covering and drapability, and soft luster. It is particularly suitable for weaving suits such as woolen and serge, outerwear, outerwear, and various decorative fabrics such as curtains, table cloths, and sofa fabrics. Polyester air textured yarn ATY and network yarn have good cohesion and smoothness, and can be directly used in the form of tubular yarn on water jet looms. It is suitable for weaving simulated silk and thin fabrics, as well as medium and thick fabrics. Polyester fibers are also increasingly widely used in industry, agriculture, and new technology fields, such as cord, conveyor belt, rope, and electrical insulation materials. Polyester strong filaments have high strength and initial modulus, good heat resistance, fatigue resistance, and morphological stability, making them particularly suitable for spinning tire cords. Using polyester cord to manufacture tires can reduce flat spots.
